We want to look at the book of Hebrews with the right perspective because many believing Jewish and believing Gentiles in Jesus as Lord and Savior have fallen under condemnation and guilt do to not rightly dividing the book of Hebrews.
For this reason we will consider first the 6th Chapter of the Book of Hebrews and then we will start at the first chapter and read and study froward from there.
So why the 6th Chapter of Hebrews, because this Chapter reveals who the book was written to and why.
Therefore if one realizes that it does not apply to them but applies to another they will not apply the scripture to themselves, and not come under the condemnation.
But if one will have the proper understanding of the scripture, and see that it is an exhortation, to the Jewish people, to come back to the Grace of God that is in Christ, and his death , burial and resurrection then one will be given understanding and enlightenment.
So what is the condemnation that believers, fall into.
The condemnation is when Preachers or Teachers use the 6th Chapter to apply it to a Christian when it doesn’t.
Mainly the 6th Chapter is used by preachers to teach christian believers that they are still sinners after they are saved and not that they are the righteousness of God after they are saved.
So how does it not apply to christian believers ?
Hebrews 6:1 There fore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God , Vs 2; Of the Doctrines of baptisms, and of laying of the hands and of the Resurrection of the dead and eternal judgement. Vs 3 and this will we do, if God permit.
The principles of the doctrine Christ are according to the law as of the Sermon on the Mount. The Principles of the doctrine of Christ are not the foundation which the Church is built on.
The foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ is built on Him as he said, upon this Rock i will build my, Church.
Matthew 16:15 -21 He explains he will build his church upon himself the Rock and that which he was to suffer, his death burial and resurrection according to the scriptures.
The Church is built upon Jesus Christ and His death, burial and resurrection according too the scripture not according to the principles of the doctrine of Christ.
There again the principles of the doctrine of Christ are of the Law and the works of the Law.
When the Law, and the works of the law , is received by a believer from a preacher or teacher, the guilt and condemnation comes and misunderstanding of the scripture, leaving one in darkness in need of light with out Christ consciousness.
Not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works .
So what is repentance from dead works?
That pertains to a Jew according to the Law who was doing works for the sake of righteousness.
We as believers have received the righteousness of God which is of the Faith Of God according to the death, burial and resurrection according to the scripture, not by laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works.
All these doings the Jews were doing for Justification and Righteousness because they had went back to doing the Law and Custom’s and the works their of.
This 6th Chapter points to the Jews that had once accepted Christ but went back to perform the Law and the Works of the Law.
A Believer is the keeper of the doctrine of the death, burial and resurrection, according to the scripture, not the keeper of the principles of the doctrine of Christ which are according to the Law and Custom’s of the Mosaic covenant and the works their of.
